Dr Duncan Parkhouse
Bsc. MB BS FRCA
Dr Duncan Parkhouse qualified as a doctor from University College, London in 1990. In addition to his practice within the NHS he is an Officer in the British Army (Royal Army Medical Corps).
Since qualifying as a Consultant Anaesthetist in 2003 he has worked in Anaesthesia and Burns Intensive Care at the St Andrew's Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns, Chelmsford. His case load there includes exposure to a wide patient mix from paediatrics through to geriatrics, ranging from the critically ill to day case surgery.
As such a wide experience base has been built up in providing safe, effective anaesthesia to the benefit of the varied patients that undergo plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Over the last few years he has been regularly deployed to Afghanistan, treating both soldiers and local Afghan civilians in both the hospital and pre-hospital environments. These patients often have significant injuries requiring the highest standard of critical care and emergency anaesthesia often practiced in the most challenging of environments.
Outside of medical and military life, Dr Parkhouse enjoys outdoor pursuits and spending time with his family and 2 dogs.
